 John B. Burke, MS, CFP®

Mr. Burke is a certified financial planner, financial advisor and branch manager with Raymond James Financial Services. He has been practicing as a financial advisor since 1983. After completing his undergraduate degree in finance at Lehigh University, he was hired by Merrill Lynch, and then worked for Smith Barney and Morgan Stanley. John received the CFP® designation and a masters degree in financial planning from the College for Financial Planning. His current practice is comprised mainly of closely-held business owners and Broadway actors. He provides continuing education classes for accountants through the ACPE.

John P. DeSantis, JD, LL.M., CPA

 

Mr. DeSantis is a partner at the law firm of Levine DeSantis, LLC, admitted to practice law in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Prior to entering law, he practiced as a Certified Public Accountant in the capacity of Tax Manager in the international CPA firm of KPMG. He has lectured extensively. His vast experience in tax, accounting, estates and trusts, and business planning allows him to present extremely comprehensive programs in a simple manner.

Jacob Foy, NJ Division of Taxation
 

Mr. Foy started with the Division’s fast-paced Customer Service Call Center in February 1999 and has worked with the Problem Resolution Unit and the Taxpayer Service Lobby, a walk-in center assisting individuals and businesses with detailed tax inquiries. Jacob has a thorough understanding of the New Jersey Sales Tax, Employer Responsibilities and Corporate Business Tax and coordinates the training of TCE/VITA income tax volunteer preparers. Jacob’s experience has placed him in the Division’s Outreach Unit, providing technical education to Small Businesses and Tax Professionals on a variety of NJ tax topics.

Henry L. Fuentes, MBA, CPA, ABV, CFE
 

Mr. Fuentes is currently an Associate Professor in the College of Business at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Previously, he was the Associate Dean for Academic Programs in the College of Business. He is also Director of Litigation Support Services for Sax, Macy, Fromm & Co. He has received the NJ Society of CPAs outstanding accounting educator award, as well as the FDU College of Business Outstanding Teacher Award.

Glenn Gizzi, Internal Revenue Service
 

Mr. Gizzi has worked for the IRS for 18 years. He began in Taxpayer Service in 1989 and became a Revenue Agent in 1994. During his 11 years as an agent, Glenn worked in the Examination Problem Resolution Unit as a caseworker, was a Cooperating Agent for Criminal Investigations, and was a Taxpayer Advocate. Glenn is also a certified instructor for the IRS and spent four years training the new incoming Revenue Agents from 2001 to 2005. His current assignments include Tax Practitioner Institutes, Questionable Employment Tax Practices, Small Business Workshops and the National Phone Forums..

Jim Gordon, NJ Division of Taxation
 

Mr. Gordon joined the NJ Division of Taxation 10 years ago and is the immediate past supervisor of the Division’s General Correspondence Section, which is responsible for answering a wide range of income, sales and corporate tax questions. Prior to joining the Division, Mr. Gordon supervised several tax preparation offices. He also conducted full, 10-week basic, advanced and specialized tax preparation courses. Jim also ran his own sole-proprietorship, offering bookkeeping services to small businesses.

Martin Hauptman, Esq., CPA
 

Mr. Hauptman is a partner in the law firm of Hauptman & Richmond P.A., West Orange, NJ. The firm’s practice is focused on ERISA law, employee benefits law, corporate and business taxation and planning, estate planning, and federal and state law.  He has been named one of NJ Super Lawyers from 2005 to 2009 by NJ Monthly Magazine.  He is a licensed CPA in NJ and admitted to the United States Tax Court.

Bruce Mantell, CPA, LL.M.
 

Mr. Mantell is a shareholder in the law firm of Mantell & Prince P.C., Murray Hill, NJ. The firm limits its practice to tax and business planning, estate planning and administration, mergers and acquisitions, tax controversy matters, ERISA, and serving as an expert witness in tax, trust and estate-related litigation. Mr. Mantell is a Member of the New Jersey Society of CPAs and the AICPA. He was a past chairman of the Tax Section of the NJ Bar Association, and a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. He is a frequent lecturer/author on tax, business, and estate topics.

Joseph Mudd, CPA
 

Mr. Mudd is a Managing Director with The Specialty Tax Services Group, LLC in New York.  He specializes primarily in Tax Accounting Methods and IRS controversy matters and is a recognized authority on these topics.  Joe is the former Partner-in-Charge of the Federal Tax Practice for RSM McGladrey, Inc., as well as the Partner-in-Charge of the New York Accounting Methods Practice for Ernst & Young, LLP.  He currently sits on the AICPA Tax Accounting Committee and provides advice to the US Treasury, IRS and the Joint Committee on Taxation as well as national and regional CPA firms throughout the country.

Parag P. Patel, Esq.
 

Mr. Patel’s practice concentration is in tax, trusts, and estates.He has worked extensively on complex tax and estate planning for high net worth individuals, estate planning for resident and non-resident aliens, tax motivated transactions, international tax, estate administration, and elder care planning.  Mr. Patel was recently named a NJ Super Lawyer Rising Star by NJ Magazine for estate tax planning.  He also received an AV rating from the Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating System, which is the highest professional rating possible among lawyers.

Paul Sanchez has a CPA practice in Port Washington, NY and is the owner of Professional Service Associates, a consulting and professional training and development business. He was an Assistant Professor at Long Island University, C.W. Post Campus, and was also on the technical staff of the Auditing Standards and Examinations Divisions of the AICPA. He practiced public accounting in the New York office of Deloitte. Now, he is an owner and auditing seminar leader for the Person/Wolinsky CPA Review Courses in the NYC-Metro area.

Jeff Saut, Chief Investment Strategist and Managing Director of the Raymond James Research Equity Department
 
Mr. Saut has been a disciple of the markets for more than 30 years, and is well known for his insightful commentary during television appearances or interviews with CNBC, Bloomberg TV, Fox TV, PBS, The Wall Street Journal, Barrons, Business Week, and many others. He previously was Managing Director of Research at Roney & Co., and Managing Director of Equity Capital Markets for Sterne, Agee & Leach. He has also directed research efforts at the regional brokerage firm Ferris, Baker, Watts, Inc. as well as Branch Cabell & Co.

Mr. Thoma  is  a partner at Withum Smith + Brown PA Certified Public Accountants and Consultants.  He is Director of the firm’s Litigation Support/Business Valuation and Forensic Accounting Services Group.  He is regularly court-appointed as an expert in these areas and has testified in both state and federal courts and in both  jury and non-jury trials. Larry speaks regularly before the NJSCPA and the NJSBA and is a frequent author of articles and seminar materials on the above topics.

 David Tilzer
 

Mr. Tilzer was with the IRS for 35 years, and has been the BSA manager for 18 years.  His responsibilities encompass overseeing the assignment and work performance of IRS agents conducting (1) compliance examinations on Non Bank Financial Institutions (NBFI) and Money Services Businesses (MSB) in particular, and (2) compliance examinations involving trades and businesses.
