June 21, 2011 - 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Navigating Foreign Waters: The Complex Requirements of Foreign Accounts Compliance Parag P. Patel, Esq. With the IRS aggressively targeting taxpayers with unreported offshore accounts, you must know benefits and pitfalls of offshore accounts. We will review the rules of foreign account disclosure, FBARS: who needs to file, which accounts must be reported, and the potential liability of the taxpayer and tax preparer. We will identify best practices for compliance and discuss the benefits and pitfalls of the IRS 2011 Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Program for noncompliant taxpayers. As a brief aside, we will also explore selected developments with respect to the confiscatory New Jersey Estate and Inheritance Tax. Qualifies as 3 taxation credits. |

Antar During this seminar, Mr. Antar, cousin of Eddie Antar, will discuss the rise and fall of the Crazy Eddie empire and his indictment for white collar fraud. Through his discussions, he will educate attendees on clues to look for to detect possible fraud during audits and client interactions. Qualifies as 3 accounting and auditing credits. October 25, 2011 - 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Technology Futures - 2011 Dana (Rick) Richardson, CPA, CITP During this session, Mr. Richardson will share his vision of both the short- and long-term future of technology, including technological aspects important to the accounting professional. Topics will include a review of prior-year predictions; what major market companies are doing and how their actions will affect all of us; and current trends in hardware, software and communications, as well as emerging technologies that will bring those trends into reality. The speaker will conclude with his personal forecasts about our technology future. Qualifies as 3 computer science credits (NJ) or 3 specialized knowledge credits (NY). |

This seminar will address recent Statements on Auditing Standards (SAS) and Statements on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAEs) as well as recent compilation and review issues. Topics will include: Interim Financial Information (SAS 121); Required Supplementary Information (SAS 120); Supplementary Information in Relation to the Financial Statement as a Whole (SAS 119); Other Information in Documents Containing Audited Financial Statements (SAS 118); Reporting on Controls at a Service Organization (SSAE 16); C&R engagements in the current environment; SSARS 19 implications; and other SSARS issues. December 6, 2011 - 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. 2011 Individual and Business Income Tax Update Bruce Mantell, CPA, LL.M. This program will cover 2011 individual and business federal and state income tax developments. Mr. Mantell will summarize the changes and discuss their practical implications for taxpayers and their tax professionals in the context of year-end planning and income tax return preparation. This program will contain new/updated tax information and will avoid overlap with prior taxation courses. Qualifies as 3 taxation credits. |
